Background Information
It is important that you have done some research into your market and are prepared
with information about your business and its objectives.
Questions include:
- What is your product or service?
- What unique benefits does it offer your customers, compared with your competitors,
e.g. low cost, fast delivery, original products, 24-hour service
- Who are your potential customers and how will they purchase your product or service?
- What factors are most important to them, e.g. quality, originality, fast delivery?
- What keywords would they enter into an internet search engine to find a service like
yours?
- What image do you want to project through your website, e.g. professional, casual,
friendly, traditional, cosy, whacky?
- Is there a website you’ve seen that you like? Examples of designs you like are always
useful.
- Who are your competitors and what is their online activity?
- How good are their websites?
- Have you checked whether a suitable domain name is available?
- Do you have a company logo?
- What images do you have that could be used on the site?
- Do you have customer references or photographic examples of your work?
- How do you want customers to contact you?
- How will you promote your web site, apart from internet search engines?
