FAQ’S

Which package is right for me?

If you’re not sure which package is suitable for you please contact us for advice.

What are the ongoing costs?

Site hosting and domain name are included in the package cost for the first 12 months. Thereafter if you want to continue using our services we charge an annual fee of £65.

Site maintenance incorporating regular updates to text and/or images is charged on an annual basis (see package 2 and 3 for details). For Package 1, where infrequent updates are needed, a one-off fee is applied each time changes are made.

Site development, e.g. the addition of extra pages or features, will be quoted on receipt of your requirements.

Package 1 cannot be upgraded.

Do you use web design templates?

No, all our sites are bespoke designs to meet the needs of our customers. This does not increase the cost of creating a site.

The idea of design templates sounds great and some companies offer packages that include “thousands” of templates to choose from. They often claim a website can be created in super-quick time, perhaps to be up and running in less than 48 hours. However, despite the apparent wide choice (which takes ages to trawl through) you may find very few templates that are suitable for your needs and the chances are that one of your competitors, with similar requirements, will use the same one. You won’t have your own identity.

If a website is important to your business, you need to make sure you get it right and there is no point in rushing it or taking short cuts.

Can I use Flash graphics?

Our websites are designed to be straightforward, for clear communication to a wide audience. Some people do not have Flash loaded onto their computers so its use could create a potential barrier to viewing your site. Yes, people can download it free of charge, but many would not do that. Flash looks fancy but check whether you really need it?

What is the difference between search engine submission and search engine optimisation?

When your site goes live it should be submitted to the main search engines. You identify key words relating to your business that people might search against e.g. carpenter, Southampton.

Search engine optimisation involves designing the site to maximise the visibility of those key words to all search engines. Text which has been coded in the right way will take priority over other kinds of text to bring your site higher up the rankings. There are lots of tricks to improve your ranking and our sites are always designed with optimisation in mind.

How quickly will my site go online?

This depends on the number of pages and the amount of design work required for your site. It is also dependent on how quickly you provide information after the initial discussions and how long it takes to approve the pages. We will give you a timeframe for completion following initial discussions, but 2 - 3 weeks would be the average for a 10 page site.

How long will it take for search engines to find my site once it goes live?

It can take several weeks for some search engines to index new sites, so visibility will not be immediate, but the site will be programmed with optimisation in mind. If you need immediate visibility then pay-per-click packages like Google AdWords sponsored links are an option and we are happy to give you information and advice about this.
